The launch of a brand-new feature in Microsoft Teams, the company's video conferencing service, was announced on Thursday. This feature enables users of sign language to add a special offer.
In a blog post, the US tech giant stated that the feature lets sign language users select up to two additional participants to pin to a central location on the screen. This lets users see who is translating the meeting into sign language.
Microsoft added that users of Teams can activate the feature for each meeting individually or for all meetings, which is thought to be helpful for people with hearing impairments.
According to the company, translators who are members of the same organization can be assigned to sign language prior to the start of the meeting, while translators who are not members of the same organization can be appointed during the meeting by using the Accessibility tab in the application settings.pointing out that sign language translators are not provided by Microsoft.
Other participants can still be pinned without interfering with the priority video stream of the sign language interpreter. By default, the video stream will be displayed at the original size in the highest quality that is available.When a presentation is shared, the translator's image will slightly change, but it will still be easy to distinguish him from other participants despite the larger size and high video quality.
